While we linger for a longtime on this leap day for and recurring guest to turn up, I located several very attention gripping facts, about the extra day we having. (Bonus! Don’t waste the windfall time!)
It is Superman’s natal day. If you see him wish him well. I have know a few champions in my time, however do not wear capes or fedoras, any longer, making them harder to unearth. An old Irish legend says that on Feb. 29, women are allowed to propose to a chap. As it goes, if the champion begs to be excused, from the proposal, he must pay the woman a fine, those being and could be a kiss, a pair of gloves or money for a silk dress.
This is also called Leap Day, which happens once every four years, instigated by Julius Caesar in 46 B.C. and sees an extra day today, — Feb. 29 — added to the calendar. Thus adding an extra day every four years keeps the calendar aligned with the Earth’s revolutions around the sun. and me sitting at my desk and you at yours. AND you may be working for freeeeeeeeeeeeee.
While the Oscars were on, there was a literary event here at the bnb. The short story book club was here for a first time and brought to the participants by the letter P. Refreshments were and not in order of appearance, popcorn, punch, pizza and pie. There were egg rolls, however they do not go with the alliteration. This meant I had to make a pie, and popcorn. Both were a disasters. The crust was dry and flaky, but compensated with over abundance of filling, the filling overflowed and stuck to the bottom of the tin pie plate, making it very difficult for one and all to get it out of the wobbly plate onto to terra firma These guests who were not staying over, were very kind indeed and complements were flying like superman doing revolution around the sun, (not just us) about rhubarb and apple. Now the popcorn machine which to date has never given me one minutes worry, set off to do its job and did not do it. With a dozen or so people coming it balked and burned the kernels within. The damp kernels of corn heated up and expanded against each other but did not move UP and OUT like it is designed to do. Thus my main snack of the night, was smoldering nicely in the machine. The offerings were scant and the aroma perversely pervasive.
Thus, and exciting night and the next month of the year is put to bed. We look forward to, God,dess willing a few more ahead. All resolutions’ from the start of the year of course abandoned. We plod along doing the normal, dull ordinary expect for the trips to the basement for bags of recycling which is on schedule for today. The temperatures today go to a high it is on the weather outlook for the day to 10. OFF we go for the bonus day, which of course is what every day is n’est pas. “It’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then.”
