Even my horoscope today is telling me to get methodical and controlled:

“Take care of your laundry and clean out your fridge. This is a terrific time for beautifying and cleaning your home. Organization is key! Once you designate things to their proper place, you’ll have no trouble finding them when you need to. You’ll find it’s extremely rewarding to make a long list at the beginning of the day and cross things off as you go.” Just terrific, I can hardly stand it.

This is something my dear and gentle and long time readers know I do, it is called the list of life here at the bed and breakfast. We made calls, we purchased apples, we applied for, we ventured, we posted mail, many of you have the same list I am sure. Ending back where we started, as does most of the population.

The list of life yesterday included getting started on renos. Some of you may remember the balcony fiasco from last summer, that the third floor balcony almost hit my mother who was 91 at the time while she hung out laundry? Taking out all the furniture on the deck below. I was off to city hall to find out the heritage preservation review board works. Bureaucracy at its most excellent.

The last thing we did, Lucy and I was to walked to heritage balconies that had to be engineered to stay up and in my case in place. The first part of the process was to find on the website just where what we needed was. That took several phone calls, to civil servants, none of which answer telephones directly anymore. What set this all off was a letter from the Director of Building Inspection, which was not clear. So we played telephone tag, as she had not left her email address to correspond with, nor in the letter just where to go to get to the information.

Then we, with Lucy hips clicking and banging, inadvertently ran into to her, in the lobby of the Hotel du Ville, while I was paying for my good deeds. You know they do not go unpunished. I had while ferrying around the Syrians‘, parked and received a ticket for doing so. OFF I went to protest, and now you have to fill out a form to do so. This was another thing in the long list of things that needed to be done. Now to pay the piper, or not we hope. It’s not enough to have lived. We should be determined to live for something.
May I suggest that it be creating joy for others, sharing what we have for the betterment of personkind, bringing hope to the lost and love to the lonely.”
