Yet again, the time of year, is at hand. Where else would it be ? my dear and gentle readers ask. The temperatures’ outside are in the normal range, where this time last year, we still had great gobs of snow. I know I know but it was dramatic. The difficulty this year, wearing the proper footwear in these normal spring conditions, rain today dictates, lighter, hats and mitts. I keep putting my winter coat away for some reason.

I was a star !! My new to me refugees called. They did not have heat, had not had it for a while. They think since I fixed the fridge I can fix anything, with a flip of switch. I know nothing about boilers, which is the main system across the street, a complete unknown, a gas boiler. OFF went to find the neighbor next door who being engineer, they know everything. With flashlight in hand to aide rummaging thru the basement, we went to resuscitate heating systems we hoped. It was a comfortable 70 degrees because of the electrical baseboards in their house. In fact the boiler was not working. The mini split wasn’t either. Pointed the remote at the mini split, and all that seemed to happen was a click but no turn over.  Check the batteries!!  Eventually put new ones in, and poof,  I am a hero for a second time. How cool is that, actually they cranked it to 80, not cool at all. Later under our own steam with Lucy, observed that the professionals had arrived, as the heating and plumbing trucks were parked out side. One assumes back to tropical temperatures, on a permanent basis and all are warm and toasty again.

Lucy and I walked, in the nature park nearby, ignoring the traditional riverfront saunter and the groundhogs therein to observe lazy squirrels. (not afraid of the dog at all.) We walked, for a full hour, with a bit of swim. This would have been good if I had been able to keep her clean, but were half an hour away from la tomato. (Much to my astonishment, this time last year, as she was headed for the rainbow bridge, but someone forgot to tell her.) She does not play with younger dogs, but sits and watches them. However, dirty and mucky, we continued to go and went, here there and everywhere, I left her behind soaking & sodden, so she crawled into my bed to warm up.

We are now connected to the rest of the world while walking, as we headed off to find a new to me cell phone that had numbers on it big enough for me to read while walking the dog or pushing a grocery cart.

The tulips are not up yet, but we can hope. It is slowly started, as one reservation fell into the inbox much to my astonishment. I have recovered from one of the guests that appeared on the weekend, she was up and down the stairs, to smoke, thus keeping me awake. Onwards !
