Telephones. Can’t live with them it seems, in modern life, and I am truly very slow in that regard, it seems, now cannot live without them. As a result, the chronicle continues, here at the bed and breakfast. I had been looking for a new to me cell phone. Preferably a cell phone, (as I am a lady of a certain age, meaning being I cannot remember one thing or read the list once I have written it), colour of no consequence I thought, one that I could read the numbers. I had been haunting the second hand repair shop, and landed in there the day before yesterday. There is was, another black phone that came with its own white charger. FREE! That should have warned moi. I received one phone call then it went sideways, as per usual in my life.
Late last night, I was running around looking for a phone to answer. Only this morning, I discovered yet another dead phone in hidden in the couch. But once again I digress, upon arrival home, late last night, a call came thru, from a guest, with a reservation please note, one of the only ones at the moment, declaring he had not received a confirmation. Which when rooting around the reservations, skimpy as they are, had been sent according to my records, had been sent, but possibly not received.
Back to the cell phone, within 2.56 seconds and one phone call, I had lost it, in more ways than one. Earlier in the day, my refugees called, on the house/business line please note. This mere minutes after learning, we hope, how to amalgamate the 45 reservations into one approach. I took OFF like a rocket, as somehow the story was there had been an altercation at the height school and the police were involved. It seemed to me that was impossible, as the 16 year Syrian, will be the next prime Minster of Canada. He is a lover not a fighter in my estimation. No this was shades of the FLQ crisis. There were in fact lots of kids in lock down, as there had been a threat. As I drove too fast, the mother prayed. They were letting the teenagers out one bus load at a time. I returned to the car, as the threat assessment was lessening.
In the mean time, the new to me cell phone was call forwarded from my business line, standard operating procedure. I could not find the phone and when I called it I was out of service as it turns itself off when it likes. Then the looking, the hunting and the shouting started. It was eventually found, under the passenger seat in the car, and would not operate, back I went to the store, only to find, that I had not turned it on, and it needed charging. Well it charged all night and back it goes again, in between Lucy needing to get her bum done and tires changed.
I found this morning, after confirming the reservation via the computer again that indeed the couple from North or was it South Carolina were indeed sleeping here August. Went on the hunt for yet another phone. I have to make note along with Lucy’s multivitamins’ to purchase new batteries for it as well, as I can see the cell phone now needs one. OFF we go for another day of fun and adventure.
