April 21, 2017 Last night went for a run, the first of the season, managing to go 5 k in 50 minutes, the others did it in 34, but they are young and wrinkle free. This was the park where Lucy went to puppy school, many years ago, 11 to be accurate. Upon graduation, certificate in hand pulled me into the stream. I actually was very proud of her and me, more proud than some of the university certificates, which used to adore my walls, basically banished recently after painting “fromage frais” thru out. Fond memories, of a crazy dog. (to say nothing of her mistress but I digress) Yes indeed. I noted all the ducks along the way to tell her about when I got home.
I almost did not get there, as I got in the wrong lane, and had to turn, left when I needed to go straight. One story of my life. Turn around I did and arrived with water bottle in hand to scurry around the lake. Another lake. Each of the nature parks has one here, or a big brook. The outside normal nature park is currently being flooded. Gives a whole new meaning to Spring runoff. We actually have another 6-8 weeks before boot camp is out of doors on a regular basis. Currently we could not do a crunch without a proper back stroke, as the ground is still frozen, and there are untold amounts of precipitation.
Earlier in the day, a hearty soup was made as it was the season to. No wait it supposed to be another one, the one after mud season, you know, spring. We had snow, thru the night, it is completely my fault I put my boots, hats and mitts away in yet another bout of downsizing. There is supposed to be more today. The weather cold and overcast. Book club this morning. I think I can manage to walk there. Sitting down to go the bathroom is difficult this morning. I listened to the book.
I went to the grocery store, after the run, on the way home. This is price markdown time, so I purchased pasta, sauce and salad for half price, indeed enough to feed a family of 5 for a night or two. Tonight is boot camp, and I may just go ahead and perish. I was sore the minute I got home, and used not only Epsom salts but rubs that literally made me smell like an old lady. Which in my head I am not. The proof of life, the selfie, afterwards tells a different tale.
Lucy would have loved to have come to the run. We walk daily, as has been reported herein, abiet slowly now, snuffling along. Yesterday was no exception. We did a normal big city walk, which is about 40 minutes give or take. We went to the bank to correct fees. These two, not just one were apparently for cheques I have not ordered. Thus Lucy P had lunch of cookies that the bank tellers gave her, and lots of them.
We also went to purchase vegetables, at the original apple store, much cheaper, and supports local business. They give her cookies too. She was so springy that she disappeared like the teenager she used to be, after all those cookies. I was in the parking lot screeching her name, looking for her. She was around the corner, showed back up grin in place. Much different now is my response, I liked that she has a bit of sing to her now, just not all the time.
I also in the mail came very rapidly, I have to add, and that has not been the case, four coupons for ice cream. I found a while back, a couple of chips of plastic, please note not chocolate. Wrote to them and enclosed the offensive article taped to the proof of purchase. That was not sufficient as I had to dig thru the recycling for the container as they needed the production numbers printed (is that before or after they fill it?) Well, they don’t know how it got there and will investigate fully. But I did find out that ice cream is designed to have a shelf life of two years.
Most of the day was spent getting the recycling down the lane. We have a three bag system and incorrect bags are left behind. Alternate weeks, there is a plethora of one color blue and the constant green. We were fortunate to think about this the day before, and the poop patrol was successful. Otherwise it would have been under a few centimeters of snow. To think I thought I might have gotten some lawn work done. How silly.
I have also gone from almost daily visits once upon a time to the eye doctor, not so long ago, to once a year, with trips to see the techs for pressures. I am most grateful for medicare, and doctors, their staffs and my eyesite.
I have after book club and before boot camp, confusing I know, help coming to spring clean. Basically the hope part that the seasons will change for the better. Not that I mind, the weather of late, who wouldn’t. OFF we go for another day of fun and adventure.
