Two Newfoundlanders, gentleman, came to call at 10:30. The hotels were looking for rooms they received in turn, the time-honored treat, yes indeed we are at it again, and were greeted in my PINK housecoat. I have to say I was incoherent and found them difficult to follow. I wonder who was worse.
Did I say, OFF WE GO for another day of fun and adventure? House full of hotel people. The break of day takes on a whole new meaning. What body part should be disconnected or patted with paste, with a cocktail of tablets that mean you should not cut yourself seriously, down the hatch. After yesterdays blistering pace, it is not just the internet that is going fast around here, I awoke with a neck. I discovered that I had one. I slapped some gooey substance, that is supposed to help, while doing so looking like a penguin in need of help with a new dance step. As my hair had escaped its tail, I have a new “do” full of aspirin laden gel.
What can one do with bits and pieces, snippets, and odds and ends. I had eggs all done up and not touched. I had toast, not touched, and I had milk, bread pudding, and just in case there was not enough, made pancakes with yogurt that as my mom would say needed to be “used up.” The bread pudding, soaked in milk, eggs and lemon, is doing its job, that is the smell is wafting up the stairs. The kettle has boiled, the coffee made, the table set. (that in fact is done the day before when the dishes are born out the machine just for that express purpose.)
The rain as predicted arrived, with it a mini landslide, mud and debris just outside the back door. The construction, continues, just not today. No today will be a grocery day, as you can see the back of the fridge, that too needs a good scour but that chore will not go on the list of life today, not today. We need everything for smooth operation of food that guests expect given this is a bread and breakfast. This means flying around the grocery store remembering to bring the bags left purposely for that purpose in the trunk of la tomato.
Lucy will be given a walk before hand so she is able to recline in my bed, damp from the rain. Which cycles the list of things to do to SUPPLEMENTARY and further laundry. How does it get any better than this?
Then you try to get the guests to stagger their breakfast times, thus having bathroom time of their own. Does this happen? No, of course not and there you are prodding the people with pudding in a hurry to get the next batch down and out.
