Many of you will recall when my 17 year old phone Nokie was put out to pasture, and retired. He would not hold a call, which is why one needs a phone basically. Trying to avoid a phone bill the size of a good car payment, I stuck the basics. I was OFF to Montreal, for my break from reality, thought I would need one. It seems one cannot be without one now, just like a plastic water bottle.

Upgraded to a lip phone, it was awkward trying to answer with gloves on, as one must in Canadian Winters. It was a challenge to make a call as well, needed to have manicured nails to punch in a phone number, on the tiny key pad.. It was difficult to flip. I did not know where the volume control was, or how to turn it off. There was not one person at the opera who could keep up with moi as I ran out to the nearest kid to it for me. It was black the color of night. (the color of the inner recesses of the car btw) I was just learning how to take pictures with a camera on the phone when it went astray. Bad ones I have to admit.

I had threaten Lucy’s vet with all sorts of her galloping thru snow banks. OFF we went as we had to purchase batteries at the grocery store for pre storm provisions. (The batteries were to insert into the real little camera, to take pictures of the tulips drooping erratically in the kitchen, as well, but I digress) My little camera, that I really don’t know how to operate either, rips thru batteries, went dead too.

ALL this to say and I have to announce I lost the new little black phone, after all that upgrading. I also lost a pair of pants which were recovered from the trunk of the car. Put there incase it was cold at the beach. It was not if you my dear and gentle readers remember a sortie to the beach, twice in fact in one week. I placed an add on face book and got all sorts of suggestions of where to look, and did. I called a psychic. I vacuumed the house. I checked pockets and tore the bed apart twice or was it three times. Prayed to the Saint in charge of lost articles. Nothing. The last place I remember the little black phone was in the La Tomato, trying to not talk to mom. I have torn all sorts of places apart, and today in my horrocope it states :

“Today you might spend a lot of time looking for a lost object. This item probably isn’t all that valuable except sentimentally. Still, it’s important to you to find it. This actually isn’t a good day to search, as you’re in a rather frenzied state and could look right at it without seeing it. Wait until tomorrow, then look. What you seek is probably close by, just hidden in some way. Hang in there! “

I had planned on a jaunt to the fix it place, for phones, given it is storming, and the above says to wait I will but think I may take Nokie with me to upgrade him when I go tomorrow. ‘Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. Alfred Lord Tennyson & Moi
