The red alert was accurate, turned out it was factual, but not for the usual winter weather. Nope, no we were in for and received, please note, not in order of appearance, fog, so thick almost like a nor’easter it was almost impossible to see across the street. Ice pellets soon turned to rain. How it fell ! It was warm enough to think about taking La Tomato for a car wash but did not have to. She is as red as red can be today peeking out of the garage. The only thing that was missing was the soap. The water was thick and fast, on the whole descriptions used for snow. The roof held up here at the bed and breakfast, no water on the inside that I can see. The temperatures’ they escalated. We went into best ever temperature for the day, record breaking territory yesterday and there are still a few tiny teeny snow banks on the lawn, pushed there by snow removal crews. Where did we land my dear and gentle readers cry? 58 degrees ! That was, I have it on good authority, the same temp as Miami

Record breaking shorts and t-shirt weather, or could have been if we had been quick enough, in a solidly winter month. Solid and stoic Canadians wore for the most part, customary and traditional bootsmittshats. All manner of garb actually was worn but tradition and habit trumped the actual temperature. In the tradition of winter, occupants of the traditional, in disbelieve, still had hoods up, but & about against the rain. I did see a fellow with a towel over his head walk down the street.

I wore after rummaging thru the closet, a fall waterproof jacket because of the downpour and the heavy rain, a baseball cap to keep it out of my eyes. Looked for but could not find at this time of year dollar store gloves, as there was no need for them really.

OFF we went to walk Lucy down by the swollen river. Thus killing two birds with one stone, she a shower, and a walk. When she returned she was a lighter shade of golden. Lucy was damp having galloped into a puddle a few inches deep and slipped in. The puddle covering over ice. She did not have hurt her hips trying splash out, which I was grateful for as the temperatures’ may have been warm but having to go in after her not so much. It was as they say in the industry, a dark and stormy night.

Since there was a red alert, thinking we may never get out of the house again OFF to the grocery store we went. While we were looking at the cost of fresh vegetables the price of milk has jumped. This would go with the story that young people are now not eating cold cerial anymore. Not because of the price of milk, but because it is not convenient enough. They would rather eat, a breakfast burrito made by someone else mother on the way to work. The cereal companies profits btw as they decry this trend is down 3 BILLION from $13. BILLION.

The red alert prompted another purchase. My news is that I have purchased three boxes of 10 of recycling bags. And just why would I want 30 recycling bags? I have a date with destiny, no not what other women do date. That would be a marvel. NO, no yet again to go into the basement yet again and clear out what cannot fit into my car.
