January 13th, 2016

Hushed point in time here in the bnb. This is the time of the new year and as the date indicates above it is 2016, to grab hold of, and catch up, on any number of things. My primary occupation? Unearthing my sanity. ( My dear and gentle readers of old, know how difficult that is) Another consideration,. as well, is to be asleep. It is made easier today, because the snow is making the street, here in the big little city, and in fact the whole province, if one reads the crimson alerts, correctly off the weather website, fairly peaceful. No hustling no bustling to be seen anywhere.

It is the time of the storm when no one is away from home. The shoveling, has not started. Most, I would venture to guess, still in jammies, drinking coffee, contemplating what it is that needs their attention. The city plow has done its job making it impossible to get IN the drive way. Now we wait for myguytoplow to let us OUT.

Lucy P, ancient of dogs has to be persuaded to go out. Before she goes OUT, one has to shovel the drift at the door so as to prevent snow coming INN. She goes however, thru the drift to bark at the neighbors’ just in case their is an intruder lurking about in the fenced in back yard. After the rumpus and racket, back she comes covered with lots of snow, in.

The pre snow preparation is to take a foodstuff inventory. I went thru the fridge in my mind, less calories that way I find. I did not need a thing. BUT conditioning of many years and many storms, I was destined to go. I lacked something, if I could only figure out what it was. Standing in the store, surrounded by 1000s of items, might help.

I had to go to the grocery store.

It was nerve wracking. Gritting my teeth, terrible thoughts worrisome thoughts, ran thru what little is left of my mind. My brain whirled and worried that I would not have a SNACK. What would I do in my snow fort on the couch all day? I have to say I test drove some hot chocolate and had a nap. The motion picture show, my usual occupation, for the second T day of the week, and popcorn might have salivated the tension that was building, BUT for the fact the film would have given MOI flashbacks for the rest of my life. Thus I walked the dog, and loaded her into the back seat of my red insect of a car.

Me and the rest of the world and their children, I might add, were lined up to by spiced tomatoes on sale! And a box of breakfast cereal. It is pleasant I have to say not to make breakfast, just pour into a bowl and presto, the first meal of the day. Normally, if guests were here, I would be up cranking out French toast and coffee, and baked goods starting at 5 am as it takes some prep to get it to the table for a 7 launch. Advice is like snow – the softer it falls, the longer it dwells upon, and the deeper in sinks into the mind. Samuel Taylor Coleridge Lucy and Moi
