A huge enormous massive blizzard is swirling toward the eastern United States. educated guesses put snow on the ground, therefore a lot of boots, at more than 2 feet for Washington, a foot to 18 inches for Philadelphia and 8 inches to a foot in New York. The National Weather Service said could rank near the top 10 to ever hit that constituency. With more than 61 centimetres of snow envisaged for Washington single-handedly, the familiar litany of schoolclosedflightscancelled AND a state of emergency was declared across a vast area. We watch in astonishment. That we here in the little almost on the coast city might not be hit with it. Yet. Currently, here in the same said city, the weather is clear and cold with nary a snowflake in sight. Not one red alert or crimson warning. Clear sailing, for those inclined towards the sport.
This is outstanding ! Why my dear and gentle readers peer towards the east. We got to have our cake, AND eat it too. We had to get ready for, and in anticipation of their storm not being our storm. That means, storm chips, in anticipation of their storm not being our storm. The end of the month is at hand and we have to admit that the resolutions to “eat less” succeeded. Just not in the way we reflected. But somewhat, we ate less, but of erroneous things. My resolve towards inflexibility, steadfastness, and doggedness (Lucy like that one) has trickle and dribbled, as per usual to an stop.
Reclining on the snow fort, amid the pillows, blankets and books, we see that dusting, now takes on a new meaning. Dusting ones self off, that of heaving oneself up and taking oneself to task, AGAIN.
In my justification and a somewhat vindication, I have to declare, that I purchased a quantity of lettuce. In my initial enthusiasm, I purchased a six pack, in fact. ON SALE! It takes up a lot of room in the fridge. It is however intimidating. Most meals, I just shift it around, it comes out, lands someplace in the kitchen, while I go about making say an sandwich. Then this huge beast, goes back in taking up valuable shelf space. Still unwrapped, (as some would say about moi but I digress) in its plastic packaging, as it seems to stay fresher it seems, FOREVER
Many weeks later, I am not flippant, I don’t want to risk taking it out of the packing for fear of exposure to the atmosphere. In fact, I don’t want to open it as it may explode lettuce everywhere. AND to beat all, I cannot throw it away, as the neighbors’ might report me to the provisions police. “Canadians throw out 25% of their foodstuff.” How do they know that? The neighbors’ of course. .
In spite of everything still in the fridge in preparation for my big leap into heal and hearty is a bag of lemons. This was not to make cake with, as some of my bed and breakfast guests would be familiar with. (it still might) No I was going to put it in water, to aid and albeit the lower neither regions that recently have been given to wind. ( I suspect the culprit, aiding and abetting that situation was the frozen egg rolls. Who knew? I was in search of the big yum. ) They too, the lemons not the eggs rolls, are still there. The bag of apples? Still there………and on it goes. We will not list the foodstuffs that are immobile and at a halt, uneaten, in the nearby fridge that is making noises that haunt one with invoices to come.
We did however get Lucy out and took pictures of her in the snow hunting squirrels‘. Will get my crack computer team on that to get them to you. Superb lovely winter here. But I may have to eat those words. The Eskimos had fifty-two names for snow because it was important to them: there ought to be as many for love.
