OFF we went to the island to get a few days in the sun. While cresting a hill, La Tomato, the little red car of some repute, started sounded like a formula one race car. I did not bother to stop as I recognized the noise, I was close to the home of a friend. A mere ¼ of a mile truth be told. I was lucky I had passed the place and had to turn around. It was the turn that did it. Had I not I would have had to proceed after the visit sounding like an angry horde of bees. But no my luck held, and the farmers wife, and Bowen therapist, (the excuse to close up shop, for a day and a half, we went for Lucy’s hips) managed with a coat hanger to keep it in place. Other people purchase souvenir like a t shirts, mine was to be car parts.

The leg of the journey, was mere miles, along country roads, watching women stacking bales of hay in the back of a pick up truck in the hot sun. Arriving at a different and more importantly another friends, (one can not have too many these perilous days) the ex neighbor to the left and Annie her snoozer. Annie leapt up and hugged me, both paws on either side of my head and would not let go.

I had gone to the front door, to let Miss L in, but the old girl and her hips, had climbed the steep back set of stairs to be let in, afraid as she is a golden, that she might be left out of all the affection going on. We sat and remembered, reminisced, caught up and created new memories drinking whine while the sun set. Eating a very good, potato pizza (it was spud island after all) awash in Maple syrup sauce. The sleeping arrangement was different, I was on top of a massage table, with the dog beside me for the night. OFF, we went into the sunshine, after a hearty breakfast of yogurt, fruit and bread. We went to spent money on repairs as every summer holiday has done since time immorally. Onwards.

There required stop at the ice cream parlor. Have you noticed that, the scoops are not what they used to be? We completed the run thru and off the red island, having to pay a great deal of money to that. Listening to audio books, we arrived to lunch, of yogurt, fruit and bread, and to the cottage by the ocean we went. A dip in the salt and sea was next on the agenda and sitting tight while watching it escape and expose the ocean floor. the versatile stand was self serve, not having change for a $10 I purchased two bags of spuds. My cousin was presented with a hostess gift and we dined on new potatoes.

The other thing of notice was there was not a bathtub anywhere, showers thru out the lands. Scary. “”Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability. Sam Keen Moi and Lucy P
