OFF we went to discuss the ways of the world and how to correct them. The parameters of the meal had to be that there was a balcony. The temperatures ascended to a gentle 30 degrees. Prior any to of this, Lucy had to get to the trail to get a soaking, as the heat makes it so she sounds like a whale breaching, that is coming up for air, these days. That was good, we did the drill, in water out, in out inout. The ¾ mile loop of water and trail and back we came.

We hit upon a restaurant that suited. It had lots of balcony space and shadows too. ( I have developed a sty which looks like a grapefruit beneath my eye. JUST as I am required to get my driver ligancy picture renewed for five years. Yes as I always say, if I had no luck I would not have any. MORE to the point, direct sunlight kills Moi at the moment, but as per usual off the beaten path I go and digress)

There we were all cosmopolitan like, sunglasses at the ready, in the newly reno-ed restaurant. Fake leather menus consulted, vacillation and hesitancy reigned. Resorting to the way to pick a meal if you don’t know what to eat. I closed my eyes. I selected with my eyes closed twice, seafood soup, that was considered too hot and voted down. That was a mistake. The diet P came three times over, the service was unhurried but good for our purposes of changing the world, and just what colours of hair were going to be done at the next appointments.

At this point I have to say we would not have been able to sit out if it wasn’t for the pigeon de-fence. There were spikes everywhere. looking much like hay in a barn, but what do I know about that? I grew up in suburbia, to keep the feathered friends from coming to rest. Then there was a clamor. A heat pump gone bad, clatter. The blare, went back to the back of yer head and straight down your teeth. Then it odor reminiscent of roofing with hot tar to keep pace with the conversation. We caught up, chattered, and consumed.

Returning to whence we came, after having had a salad, and not much later, starving. Lucy had of course crawled into bed, which was not too remarkable, but had been soaking wet when she did. Thus we started to wind up the machines and put laundry out in the breeze of the afternoon. Against strict clothes line policy. That being, only in the morning. OUT they went, I discovering I lost a pillow case. A green one. I was pretty sure I had two to start with. Have no clue where it went, possibly sock heaven. Or where Tupperware tops go when they are separated from their bottoms. (It was later found, beside the washer, never making in to the machine at all and is still smelly and damp from Lucy having used it, in the state she was inn)

A nibble was called for, ravenous, some broth was heated, regardless of the temperatures, as I was not going to make it to supper. Sometimes it’s the smallest decisions that can change your life forever. Keri Russell. Lucy and MOI
