You may have considered, my dear and gentle readers that groundhog day was in February or is it March? Here is again, it feels like ground hog day, it looks like it too, The weather, my favorite topics I have been told, has been and will continue to be cold and miserable, with a chance of frost. It is June. Spring in the Maritimes Where can I protest. We are up and about to 10 degrees …and cold enough tonight to have frost warning … Embracing by the end of the day 12 to 14 degrees…chance of a cascade of rain, what fun. apparently the usual temp for today is 20 …sheet.
Conversely, the tulips’ which last year were just starting to bloom here at this time, my long time readers recall. This, point in time, they are just about completed, with a just a few blooms hanging on. Rhubarb, the first fruit, of the old way of doing things, (now tropical fruit is available in plastic containers year round, imagine! ) is up and at it, and it too will soon be done. Tulalips are related to onion family, and the bulbs like it frosty according to the grapevine, and to keep you my dear and gentle readers, yes you in the loop of life.
Yesterday was COLD, and RAINY. The days pile up with the precipitation coming down several different ways several different times, mostly it did not stop. One had to wear scarves, gloves, albeit dollar store one, boots that were waterproof, coats. Several of them if you were out any length of time, as one was soaked thru. One dashed about in puddles, of all sizes. I bought Lucy home after puddle jumping, and remembered to put towels down for her to lie on in bed, so I could later.
The upside to all this is, the roses are green, and very in high spirits. The garden is GREEN, solid green and regardless of how much water is still coming down and how cold it is expanding like the universe. My little part of it is green, green from one end to the other. Some of it needs to mowed, as the RAIN has not stopped. And when one does prime the pump, pull the belt, and push, in circles. The machine designed to cut the grass, takes the turf and like a dog with hits stuffed toys, tears up the lawn, and makes MORE BROWN spots. But currently there is green, emerald green, olive, sea green. The whole thing, lawn, hedges, and so too, the weeds. I have taken to pulling out a few at a time so that when we get to dry land, and guests appear, I wont have to landscape.
So OFF I went, to get my oil changed, the car not moi. My existence is just so glamorous, as you well know. I took the “ auto” biography of the last Prime Minster of Canada. (it is well written I have to say, and down write hilarious in bits) and stayed up late reading it. Hence the lateness of the publication of the daily diatribe.) OFF we go for another day of fun and adventure, stay tuned.Love, Blossom Just living is not enough… one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower. Hans Christian Andersen Lucy and Moi
