SO there was a fortunate and favorable ending. Herein lies the tail. Settle in here folks this could take a bit. After a morning of landscaping, just throwing dirt around and a little seed, nothing serious. (removal of patio to come don’t forget.) Hose in hand, watering my lawn. I am for the first time in my life minding my own trade and industry. My neighbor, Caroline, who works across the street comes up and ask me “ if I had any bread.’ I have all sorts, running a bed and breakfast and all.
She enlightens MOI as to the fact that, she found upstairs in the apt upstairs’ from her office, a toddler cat. She has brought him out with sweet potato chips, something that Lucy loves, but I am sure is not so good for a kitten. He is too weak to run away while she is across the street.

I run diagonally across the street, to the other neighbors in the yellow house, knowing there is food that is on the deck for the feral cats. I happened to be in my boot camp outfit from the night before to save on laundry btw. RUNNING back bowl in hand this meager emaciated feline/kitten. The little nameless one, LUNGES at the food. There is to be honest not a lot in the bowl.
Oh it’s a BOY ! Ginger in color and all skin and bones. A mature kitten with yellow eyes. I am acquainted with the fact that neighbors who feed the feral cats are at work. I call leaving a message begging for forgiveness, I need to get to their cat food. (The lord Mayor of London has the key to the city, I have keys being in charge of the neighborhood.)

There I am basically breaking into their house to steal cat food.
I rummage thru the cupboards in their house. I knew they had some but did not know where they stored it. I find the bag eventually and fill up two yogurt containers to the brim. Spilling some to the delight of their dog, Mokie. Who if he has done his job won’t leave any evidence of my sojourn thru the cupboards.
BACK we go, with the SUPPLEMENTARY cat food rations. The itty bitty skinny thing is intakeing food just about non stop, not even bothering to breath it seems. The nameless one does bite, inadvertently in his haste, the hand that feeds him, but stops short as he realized what he had done.

In the meantime, the post person is delivering the mail. I call to her as I see she has a parcel for me, as Friday is the big birthday day for MOI don‘t cha know. (if not I just told you) I don’t want to have to go to the post office and pick it up. She comes over parcel in hand. Weeps for the little fellow, as we are flat on the walkway feeding the tiny, scrappy chap. Caroline having provided him with her water from lunch. He eats a lot, does not throw up. He does not have fleas or mites and is in the vernacular, intact and for such a little guy well endowed. He does when he does come up for air, start to talk and let us pet him. Telling us his story. We can’t quite believe it.

All Lucy got was a brisk drive to the shelter. I run to the Moncton SPCA for emergency rations and kitty litter. I arrive there landscaping wet dirty, not taking the time to clean up at all. What a sight as I completed watering the lawn before this little jaunt. Driving up one of the main arteries, under construction, complete orange cones and fraught with major detours

Unearth blankets and towels. One towel, huge and soft, is from my days in Vancouver, but we have to make sacrifices. I initiate calls to any person whom I know has a cat, wants a cat, needs a cat. Shouting to my instructor from Boot camp, “just come and see him!”

In the meantime between running back and forth across the street, I am also time traveling, going WAY back in time, using things like the phone book, and call display. WHY !! inquiring minds want to know. My computer was down, it was malfunctioning. I also during all this, received an inquiry for guests. They it seemed wanted to pay $60 per night for two persons, and their dog, who it seems does not like other hounds, but I digress.
In the meantime, the nameless, less hungry, no longer homeless we hope, is batting 3 for 3. The ginger little thing, went with Caroline for the night.

He, in a crate, and litter box, that had not been thrown out, “just in case’ that belonged to my old cat, a big ginger boy. Some of my long time readers will remember him fondly. Sent off with all the accouterments an abandoned cat, whom we think was in the flat for two weeks, could want.

Rain, is scheduled for 9:40 local time and that will if it does happen take it off the list to do, as for the next 14 days I am supposed to water the seeds I planted and we are OFF to paint the bathtub.

Much love to all, L& L
