We cranked out our super duper pancakes’ for breakfast. OFF ! for an additional day of exuberance and adventure. Little cooler than the day before, but we managed to get about with out long undergarments. Still a sharp contrast to the warmth of the previous day. Not to be concerned ! As I know my dear and gentle readers can be, we rummaged thru the front hall closet, that only recently, struggled to slim down. We did come across the winter coat we have been intermittently wearing all winter, and “dawned we now our gay apparel,” as the song goes.

Lucy Patricia, was and continues to be, her old girl, spectacular self, somewhat similar to her mother. ( ahem.) The usual routes in this park are straight ahead, again much like her owner, and about the park we bounded. Not as much as in the past but still, this time we did much over. Now, I linger for her, a adjustment, a big one, from my chasing her, hollering and screeching, trying to, a no-win situation, capture her. While she swam and chased ducks, and grinned at MOI while she passed mere feet from me.

I digress, as I am wont to do, so back to the story at hand, you my dear and steady readers, remember her tracking the squirrel, surprising all concerned that she almost caught it, including the squirrel? Upon refection, we reflect, the rodent was blinded by the sunlight, & was resting in the sun? This is when her superior stalking skills went on display, again. Just slow in locomotion.

The day after day saunter took us down to the river. In her beginnings, here in the big little city, we would have walked there, back and forth and home again. This time we loaded ourselves into La Tomato, red Toyota of note, and there we were, down by the river, strolling by an overflow pond. This, beside one of the baseball diamonds we frequented when she first came to live with MOI. She was just staring at the pond, concentrating on the grass and debris. Little did I know.

She was shouted at and called, something was up. So I have learned to watch, listen not so much, working on that. Standing for a while, POOF a partridge flew out of the ground, squawking and flying. She turned and gazeed across the tundra at moi. The glance I received was one of humility and greatness, somewhat similar to an athletic type person having won a trophy for enormity and magnitude of skills. Thus experience thumps youth again. In her heyday she would have been in there and flying after the bird again. Her knitting needle hips clacked and clanged, we again we were in motion, on our way home. Sing like no one is listening, love like you have never been hurt, dance like no one is watching, and live with lots of furry animals and it will be heaven on earth” Mark Twain (modified) Lucy P and Moi.
