I was wildly buoyant, really optimistic. If truth be told, I am, at the best of times, wobbly in thoughts, imaginative would be a good word. I can claim a flight a fancy now and again, which is excellent for the soul, but just what was I thinking? (and there would be some that would say THAT is a difficulty for moi, at the best of times.) HOWEVER, my dear and gentle readers want, nay demand to know, just what flight I was trying to catch. Time traveling seasons.
There is a crimson alert for snow. We here in the big little city just and we did have a gentle St Paddy’s day storm. Nothing to be too concerned about, in point of fact, but currently, and to make matters worse, there is a big tempest, approaching with 15-29 cm predicted. This is because I took the plastic wrap off the bushes out front. So anyone in the maritime region I do offer my apologies to.
In the last storm you could see who had taken off their snow tires. HOW you ask, they are the cars sliding into ditches and into the back of the front of the next cars. I am if nothing else, wide awake and vigilant. (some would argue that point too) I am pleased to announce I had not, separate, the winter from the summer. I will however admit I thought about it. What did happen, is that I left La Tomato outside in freezing rain, and she became locked up. Locks frozen. That or someone left a key in place and I was unable to utilize mine. The magic of cars now is that they all lock at the same time with a thud. We waited her out and as the day warmed we were back in business. I mean who would think to purchase lock deicer in spring. Pas moi.
Now in these idle days of prolongation of the winter season. I have taken once more, to my snow fort, blankets and pillows, books and tea, reading up a storm or two. I do on occasion listen to books. I had tried to order a CD containing 35 discs from the local library, prior to my last trip to the Paris of North America. I was informed by the staff in the capital of the province it was in for repairs. I was denied my request, not once but several times. Thinking that CD in place it must be a sign from God,dess to take a trip, someplace, anywhere with 35 hours of listening pleasure. So waiting for my sign I tried to order it again, denied. They said later. It was still broken. I have in the mean time tried to ascertain just what was wrong. They did not respond. OFF we go to the library to stock the beside the table with books for impending storm, the only problem is, I read them, and the storm is still 24 hours away. ( LOVED tome, “A night with Audrey Hepburn” she of course is my hero, there is a faint resemblance.) I found out, that the discs are still broken down, and have been since August. They will arrive like everything else in my life, at the height of the tourism season, when time is scarce. Living is like tearing through a museum. Not until later do you really start absorbing what you saw, thinking about it, looking it up in a book, and remembering – because you can’t take it in all at once. Audrey Hepburn
