OFF we go for another day of fun and adventure. Time traveling in all sorts of ways. My grip of reality slippery. My dear and gentle readers peer at the screen in alarm and apprehension.

The day commenced was bleak winter grey and over cast, cold and snowy. Hard-pressed, to get going, pushed Lucy around the block, as there was a supposed rush and hurry to attend to. I thought I was going somewhere. (such is life) She of course was reading all the local news at the fire hydrants and telephone poles, while I impatiently lingered beside her, leash in hand. We soon after, went to the river for the first official walk and somewhat longer, of the day in heavy snow that fell. Looking for the partridge we met 10 years ago. Later the second walk was in spring, like conditions, the day traveled into and moved into sun and warmth. So the season were trotting rapidly around, as well as us.

Most times I let her lead the way as there only a certain and finite ways to go around the block. Left or right, stay on the side of the house, cross the street to the right or left. You get the picture. We are creatures of habit she and I. Longer walks are in the middle of the day, as that is when if you are running a bed and breakfast you have an “open” gap of time in the schedule, which is when you make engagements‘.

Time traveling unrelenting and unremitting, as I was given an choice of appointment times, Wednesday at 8;30 or Thursday at 10. I battled my way in the sleet and cold and mess to Wednesday at 10. It was not to be. The actual appointment was hence. We get to do it again. I only have my stand at the back door weather report as I am having difficultly figuring out the new fangled computer generated weather set-up.

The weather is lurching about, traveling from season to the next within minutes it seems these days. But I am pleased to announce, the sun is up, blue skies are about. Conversely it is going in reverse of what was, tonight the flurries start. There is to be a storm, wet and sundry 20 cm. The combination of storm and holiday, I fear that there will be empty shelves at the grocery store as everyone, by noon today starts to celebrate the long weekend. I love writing about my job because I loved it, and it was a particularly interesting one when I was a young man. It was like holidays with pay to me. James Herriot & Moi with Lucy supervising.
