OFF we set out to boot camp, nothing extraordinary about that at all. Been doing it for years, five if you must know, six in May. You my dear and gentle readers, have been reading about the whining, and soreness for just about as long.

The class was nothing out of the ordinary. Simple in demands. Sets of four, three required exercises per, with a total of an hours worth of military might. Now in these exercises’ are drills in fortitude and doggedness. Yes indeed. Yanking, tugging and heaving in time to a nippy rhythm. It would kill a mere mortal. We used mats, balls, rope and weight to get thru is all. There were jumping jacks, hands waving, legs shooting out then inn, after several core requirements of full sit-ups, triceps curls, full squats with front lift, that is weight in hand, were on the list.

The verve of the class, was we were required to do BIG star planks or diminutive ones (they are more difficult actually, but I digress. )This big star plank, is where one is on ones tippy toes, palm on the floor, shift the considerable bulk of a body, onto one hand with the other in the air and hold, two, three. With a total of the damn things of 20. 60 was the count for skipping. I have become skilled at, as I bragged about in earlier diatribes, breathing, now while cavorting about. It helps a great deal. I got underway with the red rope, which is made for a midget, then as I have experience, with these matters, ended with a green, slightly superior, but not enormous, somewhat similar to my body type. These I might add are with undergarments that are in need of elastic. I have a set going one way, while the other is going in an entirely southerly direction, slipping down hill. Similarly my brainpower, you remind me at times.

If truth be told, there is a constant drip of consciousness’ of just why I go. Not sure how I do this, three times per week, the question is why not?. More often than not it is be with the happy band of work out buddies, in addition to be able mutter to myself. That is the most important therapeutic thing, the murmuring, the mumble, with ranting and roaring coming in close second.

Up till now, not really paid attention to, by all and sundry. As deep powers of concentration, are needed to remain staying upright, bent over, or whirling around. While most, focused on themselves, on what they were doing, is not an unusual acutance, I have to say. I hissed to myself for at least the millionth time “that I should be emaciated.” A workout buddy. Close enough at hand with feet in the TRX, regaling himself with laughter, said his reason, was the beer and pretzels. He not having one extra cm of extra soft tissue anywhere, as I disjointedly heaved and hauled. “Always make a total effort, even when the odds are against you.”
