Yesterday was a typical, dismal fall day. The wind shrieked and hollered, the sky was discolorated by grayness, gloom to put it one word, overcast. (Something you rarely see me do, you will admit) You will be pleased to know, we may be back on track regarding the seasons today. The dawn of a new day was hours ago, all looking well. Warmer at least. The cathedral spire is holding a cloud in place, dog snoring at my feet as I contemplate just what is to be put on the blank page for you my dear and gentle readers.
Another commencement of sorts here, by the way. Voting took place across and here in the province, cuffing old mayors, electing innovative councilors across the land. 4500 were employed on the day of the election, to be frank I think that as many people voted. There were all sorts of people, two at the door, three at a table to verify ones identify and then more still, sitting, in a third room, teaching people how to ballot, two check marks here, there and here. Bustling and energetic everyone was, with ballots the size of a steak plate at a high class restaurant. After the lecture, we the great unwashed, standing, go behind and try to remember the instructions, to cast ballots. Emerging to then be carried with great ceremony to a machine to count. Out with the former, and in with the prophet of innovative and improved. And after all, another and additional new day, new dawn, that being the name of our mayor in the big little city.
Proceeding to the reality of my vocation here at the bnb. The pursuit of the repair of bed is prolonged and persists. Calls to my man, one of the team that is not related to computers was phoned. We had made a tentative date to have a reconnoiter of the piece of antiquity, which is currently sheet less upstairs. This of course is not to be. My Newfoundlander of note, will not be able to repair this week, and possibly next as he is going home to bury a brother. Things do have a way of working out, I know. To find somehow to get this fixed. Another call to a friend, who has a friend, and they have not returned the call. It seems we learn patience with a dose of persistence.
Persistence is also genetic, Gordon lives, as my long time readers know. I chased to save a dollar. OFF we go another round of ever increasing circles about the town, and in this case using $1.00 worth of gas at the same time. WHY you cry? I had purchased ink pens at the dollar store across the river, while stocking up on amino acids for the dog. (at the vet store btw) Found the pens to be defective, (Quelle surprise) to my consternation, they had to be returned. Carefully wrapping them in their invoice. I took them to another dollar store, on this side, the wrong one, they all are the same aren’t they, and found, they were not able to exchange them. OFF we go another round of ever increasing circles about the town
We had test driven the possibility of boot camp with the dog, meeting the students who are working on the beds down there for the summer. The supervisor and I exchange pleasantries most days, and wonderment of the old girl, that would be Lucy and me come to think of it. I did not I have to admit want to go to boot camp, no I did not. I mentioned the howling wind, the cold and the almost rain?? Well a neighbor invited me for dinner and we trotted down the street, rapidly. Not one moment of hesitation, OFF like a shot. Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible. Francis of Assisi Lucy and Moi
