Another first, they just keep approaching. Phone rang at 7 a.m. “I lost my drivers permit.” could you take us?” It was a displaced Fort MacMuarry worker, complete with tales of evacuation, twice, finally then back to Moncton. “ Come head, I am making breakfast” was the response. They show up with a puppy, Blaze 8 weeks old. Refugees it appears of another sort. The story ongoing with “The original car with the girlfriend complete with black puppy, Blaze, started to head to the big little city, to take the worker back home, to the Miramaci blew a tire. A brother lent a car, and the thief light was on. It is on a road north of here.”

Just another thing, to keep you guessing. I asked the woman’s name and address and they paid up front, and were offered mechanics, and bus schedules. Now for the Maritime security system. I face booked a friend in the city from whence they came to find out if they know either of them. To hit upon in the maritime tradition of just who they are. My spies in the north of the province are very good, there information about the surname and the street address confirm that in fact they are from where they say they are. Facebook has a picture of her and the puppy. That ought to do it and in fact the story is hanging to gather a bit enough to stand down on concern.

Another guest here from Wales, working on her PhD. She received pancakes for staying the night. And loads of tea.

BUT the substantial news was the laundry. I know, it may not be to you, my dear and gentle readers….the sun was shining, the tulips were UP and bright and pretty. I thought now is the time to get that load of towels done. I got the machine cranked up and away they went. Hung them out. Invited had a neighbor over to admire the flowers in the bed I now have to weed as opposed to wash.

I leave the towels, the heavens open, as my dear mother always says, and it is so heavy the rain is bouncing off the roof of the garage a foot in the air. There is thunder and lightening just for the fun it and the power, goes out for one minute. That is enough that you have to go from room to room to reset the clocks, that no one uses anymore. I brought them back in, spun them again, and out again.

OFF we go to boot camp and we did a personal best of twice round the lake, with the sun shinning. Two times the board. Back we come to walk Lucy for the final surrender. We meet my refugees coming back from a lecture on how to find a job. I am wearing gear from boot camp, and they take pictures to send back to Jordan to his mother. Bags, and leashes in hand. Kindness is always fashionable, and always welcome. Amelia Barr & Moi
