MAY 25th, 2016

I am receiving reservations. Several days ago, I had a man book a room via my very international reservations systems. Standard operation procedure is to respond to that to ask just what time they will be arriving. PLUS, my financial institutions need and want to thank them profusely for staying at the bed and breakfast. It went downward at high-speed as they say.

I had to go into the system that was in back of the first. That means trying to find the hotel name, which is not a word at all but a series of numbers. Then THE password, which is alphanumeric. I have several billion so called passwords, and of those I do not remember any of them at all. As I am at an age, where I am hormone free, my memory fails me frequently.  I fail to remember any of them. AND, and, and due to shenanigans, antigens and downright enchantment, have to change them frequently. In fact, I have one system I have to change every time I go into it

Thus an email indicates that the booking online is wrong, he in fact thinks he was coming on the 24th, not the 23.It appears I am the idiot, MOI !  asking him to change or clarify his reservation. I pointed out to him I cannot, if he does not, I will point out to him, today, if I can negotiate the systems, he will be charged the FULL fee for not staying.  He made the reservation, much to his surprise!

Thus and therefore, I had to update the system manually on my website page. NORMALLY a quick and painless situation. It would not even let me inn. I got error messages, this makes me nervous. I do this early in the morning, my time. I phoned and I had to wake up teck in New Mexico, to changes from the system I have in France which covers two American ones….and I was baking. Normally Sunday afternoon we are languidly hanging about with nothing to do. HA. OFF we go, dog in the back seat, as I had to depart in peace, (not so much) in the middle of all this, behind schedule from all the international, thumping and banging.

GO north young woman! WHAT FOR!! Cry my dear and gentle readers for end of the season potluck, for a short story book club. I was presenting, “A good man is hard to find. “ believe me I be on familiar terms with that. I took strawberry, rhubarb, apple pie, complete with homemade crust. ( My mother was the best pie maker, MOI not so much. In my justification, I am getting more improved at the crust making stuff having the ingredients on hand surprising enough.) I had made it the day before and put in the fridge, as per instructions, thus, it was cold while I tried unsuccessfully to update my potential revenue. To hurry the process along, I left the dough (pun intended btw) on the stove, it got cooked a bit into a lump, I had to smash it into submission.

As la tomato is not a large car, I thru the pie into the trunk, in a tinfoil tray. NOW all the women in the club, have many children and are working on grandchildren, one has 19 for all that is holy, and have pie plates that do not fold up. Cut up, the deficits did not show, it was still tasty.

Another anniversary, that I have been trumpeting about is the boot camp. Six years of blood, fret and tears. It is flabbergasting just how time travels. SO because I am in such good shape, I have invited, everyone to go zipling. If I don’t kill myself I will be older. In France, cooking is a serious art form and a national sport. Julia Child and MOI
