The sidereal day was spent, pinging, ponging, pushing, much pushing, oh my, the bouncing and blasting. After a great deal of tooing and froing, nothing was accomplished. Phone calls had been made, consultations held, letters written, emails in quizzical, querulous, grumbling in nature sent.
The results? Nil, NADA, goose eggs got done. NOT one single thing.
The mattress & the mayor story is still in full swing. The mattress is at the end of the lane, ONE of many issues not fixed but not for the lack of trying. We contacted the Mayor of the burg, the reservations system still not to my knowledge fixed, and many many other issues too numerous and dispiriting to mention. We went backwards, with a cancellation of two rooms two days, as they had “made other arrangements.” But did not let me know what they were. Thus we are instantly, straightaway, officially empty, with only one reservation on the books at the end of this week. That could change, but have to get the reservation systems up and running. Another circuitous story if I ever heard one, and you my dear and gentle readers, keep your eyes glued to the screen.
I awoke and looked outside as the mammoth mattress, and they don’t build them like they used to, I might add was still there. NO magic happened let me tell you. I called Public works, AGAIN. My greatest fear? The damn thing will be there and buried for the winter months. Hit by a snow plow, and dragged into the street, starting a cascade of events seen only in the movies, or my life. The next pick up is in five weeks, and snow this morning is forecast. In case you need reminding Christmas will descend without warning, in you guessed it FIVE weeks.
Without further adieu, public works, “doesn’t do this as they do not have the trucks anymore” put me straight into the voice mail of the company designated to pick up bulk waste, who would not and will not pick up the mattress at the end of the lane. Thus thwarted and frustrated and unable to click thru on the big little city’s website. I wrote the mayor a letter of sincere vexation. OFF it went after copying and pasting regaling her with all the recent occurrences of recycling not at its best. She is turn, to the dept in charge of making them do what is supposed to be done.
So to cut the chase, at five pm a truck with the logo of the City on it arrives, complete with two men. Yes indeed and they do not pick up the mattress. What do they do my dear and loyal readers ask? They leave me a notice on the front door, without ringing the bell, walk by they mattress and TV and get back in the truck. Now the notice says, and I quote “We will be returning to your neighborhood in five weeks.” they list accepted items, including you will note, Furniture and TVs For information please call a number I have been trying to reach for days now. No one answers. (in their defense they may be scared now)
Thus I wrote the mayor, AGAIN, who you will note, had meetings all day, and a huge council and other things in the city to attend to.
Thus I moved on to other subjects. I had not received a phone bill. I was waiting patiently as we pay the bill at the pharmacy Lucy loves to go to. So I called the phone company, and they could not tell me what happened but were pleased to tell me how much I owe. I dug thru a stack of paid bills to take the account number along. (we are behind way behind in the yearly accounting but once again we digress) We were OFF, to the river for a walk. Lucy was RUNNING and finding the goose poop, she so loves to fart hours later. Then we went phone paying. I forgot to bring cookies, and Lucy was disappointed.
One email to gently nudge the new girl at a search engine in Ontario, to supervise the French system that is the master system to control the Dutch and the American (which owns 15 more) search engines all this for my five rooms.
OFF to boot camp. A docile diminutive welcome back class. We used weights for one legged bicep curls. Giant PINK medicine balls to do push ups off of, wave between our legs. So there you have it up to date until the next time. I am going to be fine, I come from a long line of lunatics. That which does not kill you makes you stronger.
