Another month beginning, another second T day of the week and another day started. Another full moon. Tea in hand, (two 240 bag of boxes purchased ON SALE!) we reflect on and at the list of life, full, chock o block, and inexorable.
Drum roll !! I am pleased to announce, every pen in the house is in one place.
The desk drawer at which I part my ample behind at day in and day out was, in a fevered pitch evacuated, somewhat. Uncovering in the archaeological sense of the word, a ticket for transit from 2004 for the metro in Montreal. Other belongings found, the dog’s chain from three dogs ago, Magic, a black lab he was. That was placed tenderly in a box of financial statements and taped shut. The box placed in the basement to mellow down there for 23 years. The drawer is far from empty, but now easier to shut I might point out as well.
Items that were not on the list got done, and, and, and scratched off!!! What! What, cry my dear readers of long repute. Such things as the returning of cans from the summer netting $5. Out of the garage, gone. Miracles happen you know.
Another! A very full bag of wearing apparel taken to the second hand store. Departed! The policy of a bag at the bottom of the clothes closet Standard Operating Policy seems to work. (Actually the clothes on the floor rose up to meet the clothes on the hangers truth be told.) There is a three bag maximum as the dog has to come too. “Riding around in the breeze, yes it all right,” sang the song in her head, that is refusing to leave.
Monthly component parts of life these days such as Lucy getting her amino acids and a bag of dog food were completed. Day-after-day elements, of that damn list, scratched off !! Down to the river, we went in the sunshine “riding round in the breeze.” Lucy spying Patriot geese and white seagulls mixed in, ran, woofing at them to get the lead out. OFF they went. She was most pleased. Goose-poop a party favorite discovered. The dog farts at night, again another custom, fired up.
OFF to the grocery store, to save money. (Humming out loud now, sad to say, ‘riding around.”) Potatoes were $2 ! The rush was ON, as the sale was almost finished. I was tempted to leave after picking up a bag. Did I ? Of course not. I spent $100. Literally following the grocery clerk around the meat dept while she slapped on 50% coupons on pork tenderloin and hamburger. (With no idea of a recipe or if there was space in the fridge for all this bounty.) We had a nice chat about her new to her dog. Milk went into the cart and a vegetable or two.
I had taken the grocery bags out of the trunk, replacing them with the cans in the garage. I now comprehend I have and I must point out, I have inherited my mothers, friends and neighbors, have as many as I had plastic bags under the sink in the olden days. They multiply thru no fault of my own. Somehow, and there they were and are accumulating there. There are bags, big ones, small ones, plastic. cloth and in-between and the colors! Empty, full folded and crumbled, of items to recycle filled La Tomatoes trunk. Taking up half the trunk, which is not hard, grocery bag max is 6. Sing it,” riding around………….”
The shower head got fixed did I mention that? With that, my determination waned. I found the boxes of books, downstairs, that need to get going for the next influx of energy and space in the car. More clothes that have not been on my back since my move to Vancouver. “And Man created the plastic bag and the tin and aluminum can and the cellophane wrapper and the paper plate, and this was good because Man could then take his automobile and buy all his food in one place and He could save that which was good to eat in the refrigerator and throw away that which had no further use. And soon the earth was covered with plastic bags and aluminum cans and paper plates and disposable bottles and there was nowhere to sit down or walk, and Man shook his head and cried: “Look at this Godawful mess.”
