I started a cleanup. “What?’ cry my readers of long repute and long standing.”WHY” something I have to say I ask myself frequently. Of what the chorus sang. Here, please note, I am again, singing to the choir.

The leaves were spilling in the door, again. This year, dry and broken from the lack of precipitation, spotted with a virus, drab brown and faded hunter green, crunchy, camouflage colors. So? If you can recall in all my ramblings and rantings from the summer past. I had two, not one, trees taken down and there were still five, count em one two three four FIVE green bags filled with desiccated leaves.

Which takes me to my having purchased 9,000 green, appropriate for leaf raking. Yes that was correct, but they are not LARGE enough. So along with raking, I am fanning, poking, and filling very quickly less than large, little green bags. The weather of course made it lovely to be outside. The temperatures stubbornly staying summertime, but the trees don’t know that. They cycle thru life regardless it seems. Moi as well.

I was also juggling drugs. Thanksgiving weekend I was given some, but one cannot drink with them. I found out I still needed them, as I was determined to drink whine. The bottle given to me my neighbors who went to Italy for duties becoming a neighboor I think. I also like to think they brought it back just because, but that can’t be right. The bottle was brought out to drink with a friend of long standing.

I worked with her when I recived a steady pay cheque, in an official capacity, manymanymanymany, did mention, many years ago. ( I am still surprised when I look in the mirrors these days, but I digress.) This is the friend that I drove over a 4:30 in the morning in a hat and gloves, to flip pancakes, dangerously decaffeinated in the dark, to watch Fergie and Andrews wedding. We know how that turned out. Long standing is this friendship. WAY back.

So in self preservation I raked to be able to clean this morning. A full house, three couples along with the their sister. One old friend and another lady from B.C. The former celebrating twins 60th birthday. My friend to run in the Legs for Literacy, raising $70,000 last year alone. “It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson, Moi and Lucy P
