Another tick off of the boxes of life !!  Tamed the receipts. Yes, we did. We sat, computing in the old fashioned way, craftily calculating, using a dollar store machine. Deducting the parts, coming up with a sum, and mostly in the lovely colour red and never once used algebra. The sales tax dispatched forthwith. Invoices were dispatched and letters written.

We stapled and stuffed and then encapsulated. All year long the paper tape from cash registers (but who uses cash anymore?) go into and then out of “my office.” This is a wallet the size of house, which is lugged in an overnight bag pretending to be a purse. The purse also contains such life supporting elements as my reservation book. I know more paper, but if things need to change, and they often do in my life, “White Out” is my friend. I also have lip gloss, lipstick, lip balm, all in red too come to think of it, all in the attempt at “amour propre.” as a Romance language would say.

We are on the condiment trail!!. My readers peer anxiously at the screen “what pray tell it that?” they ask. On I go again, and again. somehow forward into the breech, as is my style. (I would like to stop this style if truth be told) Recently disclosing to you all that I had a fridge full of family style mustard. It was genetically disposed of and put it all in one container, that was accomplished with a great deal of cleaning other elements of the stove and other kitchen appliances. (just bragging a bit.)

“A somebody” I learned from High School passed away, having lost touch after a bout of higher education. He going much higher than MOI Lately connecting again on social media, our last “conversation” was the two thumbs up. Fitting somehow. Writing a letter to his wife and his grown well accomplished children, revealed stories of of that time before the higher part, at High School, the vigour, the sprightliness, the energy never to be seen again, btw. The “commotion, the social whirl of choir, church, performance arts ! Done as adolescents had never been done before, we did as a gang. Fond memories. (Amusing I could remember anything, but as I wrote more came into view.)

Today is also the anniversary, of my father’s passing, now many years in the past. My last words to him were “I love you” and his in return were “thank You” When last in his presence, I said ‘if we knew what was ahead of us, we would not go forward” and his response was, “I am not afraid.’ Words to live by.

We are now and like the rest of you been initiated, inordinately with be positive “seize the day” be more messages. They make me feel inadequate. I seize the day, thru no fault of my own, as readers have read thru the years know. When I do am tired and cranky, responding not well to events, things and people. Out of my friends recent passing I came to realize, just what seizing I can do that is age appropriate. LUNCH.

I am going on a ‘ketchup date” to stay in touch, to reach out and touch a friend and a fav occupation as you can do it sitting down. She has a coupon book even better. Seasoning the life you have, relishing that. Condiments are good for the soul. “The moments of happiness we enjoy take us by surprise. It is not that we seize them, but that they seize us.” – Ashley Montagu Moi and Miss Lucy P.
