Head down, plowing thru. Yes indeed. Here we are three months away from the finish. We feel like we have not set about starting. We don’t even know quite what we were supposed to do, the gun fired late but fired it was. The sands of time in that hour glass, just funneling thru, more rapidly if that is possible.
We have finished two 100 load bottles of detergent, with skin soft scent, recently purchased. Going again to get another deuce. (ON SALE!) Dozens and could be millions of eggs, have been consumed. Gallons and liters of cream, pounds of brown sugar and then the light-colored Lilly white stuff too. Beans, baguettes, banana bread and fruit salad. Cleaning supplies have been replenished and then there is the ongoing rolls of toilet paper.
While waiting for guests we read, the only time allowed for such pursuits. Upon arrival guests are addressed warmly with hand shaking and smiling and with the standard greeting, “do you have any food allergies? There are two bathrooms, with robes in the rooms,” and the very old stale comment “it takes a degree in engineering to make the locks work. “And or, this is “a new key, old lock you have to jiggle it.” The new paint work, is scratched and chipped from luggage, just yesterday with a gentleman who is unsteady on his feet.
We are at the time of year, when dinner, is a box of crackers and we are unplugging the phone most nights to get some sleep. The calls have gone out to get the roof patched, and another tree to taken down. The lawn still looks like shredded wheat, but it is raining at the moment. The roses, are blooming in the back yard from the daily dose of dehumidifier water.
Lucy had her nails trimmed, we purchased her amino acids, and her green lipid muscle. She is eating well, better than I. We are napping daily. Mom returns from her sojourn to my bothers. I have guests in her room for a night, so we may just sleep around. Love is like an hourglass, with the heart filling up as the brain empties.Jules Renard
