There is a little edge to the air, it was and has been beautiful days here. Lots of rain, little wind, little sun. The humidity vanishing. There has been a cliff-like slowdown in the pace, of guests, since the long weekend. Only a single room, a couple from Cape Breton, from my fathers birthplace, visiting here for three days. Tonight they are joined by two rooms of Francophiles from France. Empty out and do it again.

Opening the snail mail, the credit card merchant statement I received indicated that and grateful for a stunning number of guests that have come thru the doors. One of the best months I have had ever running the bed and breakfast. The bills, stunning too, are coming thru the entrance as well but there is money to pay them HURRAH~

I opened my email today, and my sister in Texas out of Harvey’s way, has been in contact with cousin in Key West. They are tumbling thru troubles. My cousin and husband, (had a stroke less than a year ago) my mothers sister aged 80+ are remaining in a friends home to ride out the hurricane tempest. The children and grandchildren go up state. My concerns ,thoughts, prayers and hopes journey with them. And to all affected by the devastation of late, hurricanes, earthquakes, fires. The front pages of late have been astonishing weather events.

I had another cousin, from across the continent write, and the other side of the family, indicating they had the warmest summer ever, and she got to sit out side in the shade in Seattle. Unheard of. She wrote as her water pipes broke, sound familiar? I found more melted plaster in the kitchen, but have had not time to fret about it.

Mom and I have been banqueting, no meal, nor snack, or calorie left behind. We went out to lunch and dinner yesterday. Daily doses of ice cream and french fries. (NOT looking forward to returning to boot camp, or the difficult returning to “conventional consumption’ of food. There is still half a giant pizza left in the fridge.)

Today mom goes to the airport, to rejoin my sister in Ontario. Short and sweet today, as I rummage thru my mothers drawers, heave a huge black bag down the stairs, along with her purse, carry one books and coats, to her to the airport on time. Not that we would likely be late. We have been counting the minutes to be able to print off the boarding pass and choose an isle seat. Thinking she is in the big grapefruit would have liked to leave yesterday to drive 10 minutes, at most, to the airport, all the while to sit in the plastic seats in security.

Here we are tumbling thru no troubles at the moment, Lucy had she been much younger would have run off in sheer exuberance, but I was able to catch her.
